Upper limb posture

RULA-E

Rapid Upper Limb Assessment — Extended

Overview

RULA -E is an extension of the original RULA method — designed to address limitations of the standard RULA tool when applied to tasks that involve additional risk factors not captured in the original scoring system — including contact stress, static work, precision work, and tasks performed in constrained or unusual postures. RULA -E incorporates additional scoring elements for these factors — producing a more comprehensive risk assessment for complex tasks where the stand ard RULA tool may underestimate the actual ergonomic risk. It is particularly useful in electronics assembly, precision manufacturing, and tasks requiring fine motor control where contact stress and static loading of the upper limbs are significant risk fa ctors alongside posture.
