Hand -arm vibration magnitude

ISO 5349

International Organisation for Standardisation — ISO 5349: Mechanical Vibration — Measurement and Evaluation of Human Exposure to Hand-Transmitted Vibration

Overview

ISO 5349 is the internationally recognised standard for the measurement and evaluation of hand - arm vibration — the vibration transmitted from vibrating tools and surfaces through the hands and arms to the body. The stan dard defines the measurement procedures, instrumentation requirements, frequency weighting functions, and exposure assessment methodology for calculating the daily hand -arm vibration exposure — A(8) — and assessing the risk of hand -arm vibration syndrome. It is referenced in national regulations across Europe and increasingly in India for workplaces where power tools, hand -held machinery, and vibrating equipment are used — and forms the technical basis for the Exposure Action Value and Exposure Limit Value framework.
