Tool and Equipment Selection Advisory is an ergonomics consultation service that helps organisations select hand tools, power tools, machinery, and equipment that are desi gned to minimise the physical demands placed on workers — reducing force requirements, awkward postures, vibration exposure, and repetitive strain associated with tool use. The tools and equipment workers use every day have a direct and significant impact on their physical health — poorly designed tools force unnatural grip positions, require excessive force, and transmit vibration — all of which accumulate into injury over time.
ErgoTatva evaluates prospective or existing tools and equipment against ergono mic criteria — grip diameter and shape, weight, trigger and control placement, vibration characteristics, and suitability for the task and the worker population — using manufacturer specifications, hands -on evaluation, and where applicable, measurement of vibration levels against ISO 5349 standards for hand -arm vibration. Alternative tools are assessed and compared — with recommendations based on ergonomic performance, task fit, and practical usability.
Poor tool selection is a significant and frequently ov erlooked cause of upper limb disorders, hand - arm vibration syndrome, and musculoskeletal injury in manufacturing and maintenance environments. Selecting ergonomically appropriate tools at the procurement stage costs no more than selecting poorly designed o nes — but the difference in worker health outcomes over years of use is substantial. Tool and Equipment Selection Advisory ensures that ergonomics is considered at the point of purchase — where it is easiest and least expensive to get right.
Our certified ergonomists are available across India. From workplace assessments to complete ergonomic redesigns, a conversation is all it takes to improve employee health and productivity.
