Digital Human Modelling — DHM

Digital Human Modelling

Overview

Digital Human Modelling is a computer -aided ergonomics technique that uses three-dimensional virtual human figures — populated with anthropometric data — to simulate and evaluate how workers of different body sizes interact with wor kstations, vehicles, equipment, and environments before physical prototypes are built or facilities are constructed. DHM software — including tools such as JACK, RAMSIS, and DELMIA Ergonomics — allows ergonomists to test reach envelopes, posture profiles, visibility, and physical demand of proposed designs in a virtual environment — identifying and resolving ergonomic problems at the design stage where changes are least expensive to implement. DHM is increasingly used in automotive, aerospace, manufacturing , and construction design — reducing the need for costly physical mock -ups and enabling ergonomic optimisation before construction or production begins.
