CTD Risk Index

Cumulative Trauma Disorder Risk Index

Overview

The Cumulative Trauma Disorder Risk Index is an ergonomic assessment framework used to evaluate the cumulative phy sical stress placed on the musculoskeletal system through repeated exposure to multiple ergonomic risk factors — including repetition, force, awkward posture, vibration, contact stress, and cold temperatures. Unlike single -variable assessment tools, the CT D Risk Index recognises that musculoskeletal disorders typically result from the combined effect of several risk factors acting simultaneously — and that the interaction between these factors can produce greater risk than any individual factor alone. It is used to assess complex tasks where multiple risk factors are present and a single -dimension tool would underestimate the overall risk.
