RULA
Rapid Upper Limb Assessment
Overview
RULA is one of the most widely used ergonomic assessment tools globally — designed to evaluate the exposure of the upper limbs to ergo nomic risk factors in sedentary and light industrial work. The tool systematically assesses the postures of the upper arm, lower arm, wrist, neck, trunk, and legs — alongside muscle use and force or load — assigning scores to each element and combining the m into a grand score from one to seven that maps directly to an action level ranging from acceptable posture to immediate investigation and change required. RULA is fast to apply, requires no specialist equipment, and produces a quantified risk score that enables comparison across workstations, tasks, and time.
