PATH
Posture, Activity, Tools and Handling
Overview
PATH is a work sampling -based ergonomic observation method — used to characterise the ergonomic exposures experienced by a worker over the full working day through systematic, time - sampled observation of posture, activity, tools used, and handling operatio ns. Unlike tools that assess a single task at a specific point in time, PATH captures the distribution of ergonomic exposures across the entire working day — recording the proportion of time spent in each posture category, performing each type of activity, and using each type of tool or handling operation. This whole -day exposure profile makes PATH particularly useful for jobs with high task variability where single -task assessment methods may not capture the full ergonomic picture.
