Nordic Body Map Survey
Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire — Body Map Survey
Overview
The Nordic Body Map Survey — formally the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire — is a validated self-report instrument used to identify the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms across nine body regions: neck, shoulders, upper back, elbows, wrists and hands, lower back, hips and thighs, knees, and ankles and feet. Workers indicate whether they have experienced discomfort, pain, or numbness in each region over the past twelve months and the past seven days — and whether any symptoms have prevented them from carrying out normal activities. The Nordic Body Map is used in ergonomics to establish the pattern of musc uloskeletal complaints in a workforce — identifying the body regions most affected and the potential ergonomic risk factors responsible.
