NASA-TLX
NASA Task Load Index
Overview
The NASA Task Load Index is a multi-dimensional rating scale used to assess the perceived workload of a task across six dimensions: mental demand, physical demand, temporal demand, performance, effort, and frustration. NASA-TLX has become one of the most widely used and validated subjective workload assessment tools in human factors and ergonomics research and practice. In occupatio nal ergonomics, it is used to evaluate the cognitive and physical load of complex tasks — identifying tasks or work systems that impose excessive demand on workers and may contribute to fatigue, error, and performance decline.
