LUBA
Loading on the Upper Body Assessment
Overview
LUBA is a posture assessment method — designed to evaluate the postural loading on the upper body during work tasks by measuring joint angles at the neck, trunk, up per arm, lower arm, and wrist and converting them into a composite postural load score. The method uses a coding system based on joint angle ranges — with each range associated with a loading level — and combines the loading scores across all measured join ts to produce an overall postural load index for the task. LUBA is used in situations where upper body postural loading is the primary ergonomic concern — particularly in sedentary assembly work, precision tasks, and work requiring sustained upper body postures.
