ISO 2631
International Organisation for Standardisation — ISO 2631: Mechanical Vibration and Shock — Evaluation of Human Exposure to Whole-Body Vibration
Overview
ISO 2631 is the internationally recognised standard for the measurement and evaluation of whole - body vibration — the vibration transmitted to the entire body through a supporting surface such as a vehicle seat, floo r, or platform. The standard defines measurement methods, frequency weighting functions, and exposure assessment procedures — producing daily vibration exposure values expressed in metres per second squared that can be compared against health guidance zone s for the risk of adverse health effects including lower back pain, spinal degeneration, and other musculoskeletal disorders. It is applicable to drivers of vehicles and mobile machinery, workers standing on vibrating floors, and anyone whose body is suppo rted by a vibrating surface during work.
