DSE Assessment Framework

Display Screen Equipment Assessment Framework

Overview

The DSE Assessment Framework is a structured approach to evaluating the ergonomic adequacy of workstations used with display screen equipment — covering the physical setup of the screen , keyboard, mouse, chair, desk, lighting, and the work environment, alongside the work patterns and individual characteristics of the DSE user. Originating from the European Union's Display Screen Equipment Directive — which has been widely adopted and ada pted across jurisdictions — the framework requires employers to assess the risks posed by DSE use and implement controls to reduce those risks. In India, DSE assessment is increasingly expected by multinational employers, institutional investors, and ESG f rameworks as a standard component of occupational health management for office -based workforces.
