At the Edge of What We Know.

Most professional bodies in this field curate what is already known. CE³ exists to go further — to create what is not yet known.

Frontiers is the research and intellectual leadership arm of CE³, where we examine what EHS and ESG truly mean, how they are practiced, and what they ask of businesses, governments, and professionals across the world. Through expert working groups, applied research, and global collaboration, CE³ is building the intellectual foundation that will shape the next generation of practice.

We do not merely belong to this field. We are helping to shape what it becomes.

The Frontiers Manifesto

The challenges facing people and the planet today are rarely technical problems waiting for technical solutions. More often, they are failures of priority, understanding, and will — workplaces where safety is undervalued rather than impossible, businesses where accountability remains weak rather than sustainability unachievable, commitments made publicly and quietly set aside because the culture to sustain them was never built.

CE³ exists at this frontier — the space between where EHS and ESG practice stands today, and where it must go. Frontiers is our commitment to keep asking harder questions and demanding more of our disciplines, bringing together the sharpest minds from industry, academia, policy, and practice to define what comes next, not merely defend what already exists.

Areas of Inquiry

CE³ pursues living questions, the ones the profession has not yet answered well enough, and that matter most to people, organizations, and the planet.

01

How do we make fire and life safety truly preventive, not reactive, across industries and geographies?

02

What does meaningful worker safety look like in the rapidly evolving economies, supply chains, and forms of work emerging globally?

03

How do we close the persistent gap between what EHS and ESG standards require on paper, and what actually happens on the ground?

04

How can climate risk be translated from a macro-level concern into practical, actionable guidance for businesses and workers?

05

What governance structures make ESG commitments durable, surviving leadership changes, market pressures, and short-term thinking?

06

How do ergonomics and human factors shape productivity, wellbeing, and safety, and how can these disciplines reach more organizations?

07

What role can EHS and ESG professionals play in shaping the laws and policies of tomorrow, not just implementing those of today?

These are open invitations. If your work, research, or experience speaks to any of them, or if you carry a question CE³ should be asking, you belong in this community.

Working Groups

CE³'s working groups are the engine of its intellectual work. Each group brings together professionals, researchers, and practitioners from across the globe to produce position papers, policy briefs, guidance documents, and practitioner tools, contributing to national and international conversations that shape EHS and ESG standards.

CE³ is constituting working groups across ten domains:

Each working group is led by senior practitioners nominated by the CE³ founding community. Working groups are open to all CE³ members who wish to contribute their expertise. If you are a subject matter expert in any of these domains, or in an area not yet listed, we invite you to join CE³ and bring your knowledge to the table.
