Return-to-Work Programme

Return-to-Work Programme

What is Return-to-Work Programme?

A Return -to-Work Programme is a structured plan that supports an employee who has been absent from work due to musculoskeletal injury, illness, or surgery to return to their role safely — at the right pace, with the right adjustments, and with the confiden ce that their workplace has been adapted to support their recovery rather than compromise it.

Returning to work too quickly, without adequate support or workplace modification, frequently leads to re -injury — extending the period of absence and the duratio n of suffering for the employee and the cost for the organisation.

ErgoTatva designs return -to-work programmes in collaboration with the employee, their treating physician or physiotherapist, and the employer — conducting a job demand analysis to understan d the physical requirements of the role, assessing the employee's current functional capacity, identifying the specific workstation adjustments or task modifications needed, and developing a phased return schedule that gradually increases demand as the emp loyee's capacity recovers. A well -managed Return -to-Work Programme reduces total absence duration, lowers the risk of re - injury, improves employee confidence and morale, and demonstrates the organisation's genuine commitment to employee welfare — all of wh ich contribute to faster recovery, lower costs, and a stronger employment relationship. For the employee, it is the difference between returning to a workplace that supports their recovery and one that repeats the injury.
