Injury and Absenteeism Trend Analysis is a systematic examination of an organisation's occupational injury records and absence data — looking for patterns, trends, and correlations that reveal the underlying ergonomic risk factors driving musculoskeletal d isorders in the workforce. Most organisations collect injury and absence data but few analyse it with sufficient depth to identify the workplace causes — the specific tasks, workstations, departments, or working conditions that are responsible for the inju ries and absences that appear in the records.
Trend analysis transforms raw data into actionable ergonomic intelligence. The analysis examines injury type, body region affected, department and role, time of shift, task being performed, and absence duration — identifying clusters and trends that point to specific ergonomic risk factors.
Absence data is analysed alongside injury data to identify the musculoskeletal conditions that are causing extended absence — and the workplace factors most likely to be resp onsible. Statistical methods are applied where data volumes allow — and findings are presented in a clear, visual format that makes patterns immediately apparent to non -specialist management audiences. Organisations that understand their injury and absence trends make better ergonomics investment decisions — because they direct resources to the tasks, departments, and risk factors that are actually causing harm, rather than the ones that are most visible or most frequently complained about. Injury and Absen teeism Trend Analysis is the evidence base that makes ergonomics strategy data -driven — and the tool that transforms occupational health data from a compliance record into a management resource.
