An Ergonomics Policy is a formal statement of an organisation's commitment to managing ergono mic risk and protecting its workers from musculoskeletal disorders — defining the responsibilities, standards, and processes that govern how ergonomics is managed across the organisation. Standard Operating Procedures — SOPs — translate that commitment int o practical, step -by-step instructions for specific ergonomic tasks — workstation setup, manual handling, return - to-work assessments, and ergonomics reporting.
Together, a policy and its supporting SOPs form the governance backbone of a functioning ergonom ics programme. ErgoTatva develops ergonomics policies and SOPs that are grounded in the realities of the client's operations — tailored to the specific tasks, environments, and risk profile of the organisation rather than adapted from generic templates.
Th e policy document defines scope, responsibilities, targets, and review mechanisms. Each SOP is written in plain language — accessible to workers on the shop floor and in corporate offices alike — and tested against actual working conditions before finalisa tion. Organisations without a formal ergonomics policy rely on individual awareness and informal practice — which produces inconsistent results and leaves the organisation exposed to regulatory scrutiny, insurance liability, and investor questions about oc cupational health governance. A well -developed ergonomics policy and SOP framework demonstrates systematic management of ergonomic risk — and provides the documented evidence that auditors, investors, and regulators increasingly require.
Our certified ergonomists are available across India. From workplace assessments to complete ergonomic redesigns, a conversation is all it takes to improve employee health and productivity.
