Environmental Monitoring — Stack Emissions, Ambient Air, Noise, Water & Effluent

Compliance Header

What is a Environmental Monitoring — Stack Emissions, Ambient Air, Noise, Water & Effluent?

Environmental Monitoring is the systematic measurement of environmental parameters at a facility — covering stack emission concentrations, ambient air quality, noise levels, surface and ground water quality, and effluent characteristics — conducted in accordance with the frequencies, methods, and standards specified in the organisation's environmental consents and applicable regulatory requirements. Monitoring data provides the evidence of environmental compliance — demonstrating to regulators, investors, and stakeholders that the facility is operating within its permitted limits and that its environmental impacts are being managed.

Regular monitoring also provides early warning of deteriorating environmental performance — enabling corrective action before a non-compliance event occurs. EGSS manages environmental monitoring programmes for industrial and commercial facilities — coordinating sampling activities, engaging accredited laboratories, reviewing results against consent conditions and regulatory standards, preparing monitoring reports, and maintaining the monitoring records needed for statutory returns and regulatory submissions.
