Load Flow Analysis

Electrical Safety Engineering & Studies Header

What is a Load Flow Analysis?

Load Flow Analysis — also known as Power Flow Analysis — is a computational study of an electrical power system that determines the voltage, current, active power, and reactive power at every node in the network under defined operating conditions. It provides a comprehensive picture of how power flows through the system and where voltage levels, loading levels, and power factors fall relative to acceptable limits.

The analysis is used to identify overloaded cables, transformers, and switchgear — locations where voltage levels fall outside acceptable ranges — and systems where power factor correction or network reconfiguration is required. It is a fundamental tool for electrical system design, capacity planning, network optimisation, and compliance with utility connection requirements. EGSS conducts load flow analysis using industry-standard power system software — supporting electrical system design reviews, expansion planning, safety assessments, and regulatory submissions for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure facilities across India.
