Supply Chain Human Rights Assessment

What is a Supply Chain Human Rights Assessment?

A Supply Chain Human Rights Assessment evaluates the human rights risks present across an organisation's supply chain — examining the practices of suppliers and subcontractors with respect to labour rights, working conditions, child and forced labour, discrimination, and other human rights considerations relevant to the specific supply chain context. The assessment maps the supply chain, identifies the human rights risks most likely to be present based on sector, geography, and supply chain structure, assesses the severity and likelihood of those risks, and evaluates the organisation's current supply chain management practices against the requirements of applicable frameworks including the UN Guiding Principles, ILO conventions, and mandatory human rights due diligence regulations.

It provides organisations with a prioritised picture of human rights risk across their supply chain — and the foundation for a targeted supplier engagement and improvement programme that demonstrates credible commitment to supply chain human rights management.
