Stakeholder Management Plan & Risk Assessment

What is a Stakeholder Management Plan & Risk Assessment?
A Stakeholder Management Plan is a structured document that defines how an organisation will identify, engage, and manage its relationships with stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of a project or operation — covering stakeholder mapping, engagement methods, communication strategies, grievance management, and monitoring and reporting arrangements. A Stakeholder Risk Assessment evaluates the risks arising from inadequate or ineffective stakeholder engagement — including community opposition, reputational damage, regulatory intervention, and project delays — and identifies the management measures needed to reduce those risks to acceptable levels.
Together, a Stakeholder Management Plan and Risk Assessment provide organisations with a systematic, proactive approach to stakeholder relations — meeting the requirements of IFC Performance Standard 1 and other E&S frameworks, and providing the evidence of structured stakeholder engagement that investors, lenders, and regulators increasingly require.
