What is a SA8000 Readiness Assessment?

SA8000 is the internationally recognised social accountability standard developed by Social Accountability International — covering child labour, forced labour, health and safety, freedom of association, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours, remuneration, and management systems. It is one of the most widely recognised third-party certifications for workplace social compliance and is frequently required by multinational buyers and brands.

An SA8000 Readiness Assessment evaluates an organisation's current social compliance performance against the requirements of the SA8000 standard — identifying gaps between current practices and certification requirements, assessing the management system maturity needed to sustain compliance, and developing a corrective action plan to close identified gaps before the formal certification audit. It is the essential first step for organisations seeking SA8000 certification — providing an honest, independent assessment of readiness and a clear roadmap for achieving the standard within a defined timeframe.
