ILO Labour Standards Compliance Assessment

What is a ILO Labour Standards Compliance Assessment?

The International Labour Organisation's Core Conventions establish the fundamental principles and rights at work that all member states — including India — are obligated to respect and promote.

These cover freedom of association and collective bargaining, elimination of forced and compulsory labour, abolition of child labour, and elimination of discrimination in employment and occupation — the four pillars of the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. An ILO Labour Standards Compliance Assessment evaluates an organisation's practices against the requirements of applicable ILO Core Conventions and other relevant ILO standards — identifying gaps, assessing the effectiveness of existing management systems, and providing recommendations for achieving and demonstrating compliance with internationally recognised labour standards. It is used by organisations seeking to meet the requirements of institutional investors, development finance institutions, and multinational buyers that require ILO compliance as a condition of investment or sourcing — and provides the structured, evidence-based assessment needed to demonstrate labour rights commitment to credible, internationally recognised standards.
