What is a Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD)?

Human Rights Due Diligence is the ongoing process through which organisations identify, prevent, mitigate, and account for how they address actual and potential adverse human rights impacts across their operations, supply chains, and business relationships — as defined by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and increasingly required by international investors, lenders, and regulators. HRDD involves identifying and assessing actual and potential human rights impacts, integrating findings into decision-making and internal processes, tracking the effectiveness of responses, and communicating how impacts are being addressed to relevant stakeholders.

It covers the full spectrum of internationally recognised human rights — civil, political, economic, social, and cultural — with particular focus on the rights most at risk from the organisation's specific activities and context. EGSS conducts HRDD engagements aligned with the UN Guiding Principles, IFC Performance Standards, and the emerging mandatory HRDD requirements of European regulatory frameworks — providing organisations with a rigorous, credible assessment of their human rights risk profile and a structured programme for addressing identified impacts.
