GHG Inventory & Carbon Footprint Assessment — Scope 1, 2 & 3

What is a GHG Inventory & Carbon Footprint Assessment — Scope 1, 2 & 3?
A GHG Inventory and Carbon Footprint Assessment is a systematic measurement and quantification of an organisation's greenhouse gas emissions — covering direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, indirect emissions from purchased energy, and all other indirect emissions across the value chain. These three categories are defined as Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 under the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard — the globally recognised framework for corporate greenhouse gas accounting.
The inventory involves identifying all emission sources, selecting appropriate emission factors, calculating emissions for each source, and aggregating results into a total carbon footprint expressed in tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
The process provides organisations with a complete, accurate, and auditable baseline of their emissions — the essential starting point for setting reduction targets, developing net zero roadmaps, and meeting disclosure requirements.
EGSS conducts GHG inventories aligned with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and IPCC guidelines — supporting BRSR disclosure, CDP reporting, SBTi target-setting, and the emissions data requirements of investors, lenders, and supply chain customers across India.
