Environment & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) — IFC, World Bank, ADB

What is a Environment & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) — IFC, World Bank, ADB?
Environment and Social Due Diligence is a structured assessment of the environmental and social risks, impacts, and management systems associated with a project or business — conducted as part of the investment appraisal process for development finance institutions, commercial lenders, and impact investors operating under internationally recognised E&S frameworks. ESDD encompasses a review of the project's environmental compliance status, pollution and resource management practices, labour and working conditions, community impacts, health and safety performance, and the adequacy of the organisation's E&S management systems — evaluated against the requirements of the applicable framework, whether IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Environmental and Social Framework, ADB Safeguard Policy Statement, or other recognised standards.
EGSS has conducted ESDD assignments across a wide range of sectors — including manufacturing, infrastructure, real estate, renewable energy, agribusiness, and financial intermediaries — for some of the most demanding institutional investors and lenders operating in India.
