Energy Audit & Resource Efficiency Assessment

What is a Energy Audit & Resource Efficiency Assessment?
An Energy Audit is a systematic analysis of energy flows and consumption patterns within an organisation — identifying where energy is used, where it is wasted, and what measures can reduce consumption and improve energy efficiency across all operations. A Resource Efficiency Assessment extends this analysis to other key resources — water, raw materials, and auxiliary inputs — providing a comprehensive picture of resource utilisation and the opportunities to do more with less.
The audit involves measurement and analysis of energy consumption across all systems — lighting, HVAC, motors, process equipment, compressed air, and utilities — alongside assessment of water consumption, material yields, and other resource flows.
Inefficiencies are identified and quantified, improvement measures are evaluated for technical feasibility and financial return, and recommendations are prioritised by impact and payback period. In India, energy audits are governed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the Energy Conservation Act — with mandatory audit requirements for designated consumers. Beyond compliance, energy and resource efficiency improvements deliver direct financial benefits, reduce the organisation's carbon footprint, and strengthen ESG performance across multiple reporting frameworks.
