Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Assessment

What is a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Assessment?

A Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Assessment evaluates an organisation's current state of diversity across its workforce, the equity of its employment practices and systems, and the inclusivity of its workplace culture — identifying gaps between current reality and the organisation's DEI aspirations and the expectations of investors, employees, and other stakeholders. The assessment examines workforce composition data across gender, age, ethnicity, disability, and other relevant dimensions — alongside recruitment and promotion practices, pay equity, flexible working policies, inclusive leadership, anti-harassment and anti-discrimination frameworks, and the lived experience of employees from underrepresented groups.

It identifies systemic barriers to diversity and inclusion and provides recommendations for building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organisation. DEI is an increasingly material ESG consideration — with institutional investors, ESG rating agencies, and sustainability reporting frameworks all requiring organisations to disclose and improve their DEI performance. A robust DEI assessment provides the honest, evidence-based baseline from which meaningful improvement programmes can be built.
