Community & Beneficiary Perception Survey

What is a Community & Beneficiary Perception Survey?
A Community and Beneficiary Perception Survey is a structured data collection exercise that measures the awareness, satisfaction, and perceptions of community members and programme beneficiaries with respect to an organisation's operations, social programmes, or community engagement activities — providing quantitative and qualitative evidence of community sentiment and programme effectiveness. The survey involves designing and administering questionnaires to representative samples of community members and beneficiaries — using household surveys, focus groups, or digital data collection methods — and analysing responses to identify trends, satisfaction levels, awareness gaps, and areas of concern.
The methodology is designed to capture the perspectives of different demographic groups including women, youth, and marginalised communities. Perception surveys are used to monitor community relations over time, evaluate the effectiveness of CSR and social investment programmes, meet the stakeholder engagement requirements of IFC Performance Standards and other E&S frameworks, and provide investors and lenders with independent evidence of community sentiment and social performance.
