Process Safety Audit

Risk & Process Safety Header

What is a Process Safety Audit?

A Process Safety Audit is an independent, systematic evaluation of an organisation's process safety management systems, practices, and performance — against defined process safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Unlike a general EHS audit, a process safety audit focuses specifically on the effectiveness of PSM element implementation — examining areas such as process hazard analysis, mechanical integrity programmes, operating procedures, management of change, and contractor safety management.

The audit identifies gaps, weaknesses, and areas of non-conformance — providing management with an honest assessment of process safety performance and a prioritised plan for improvement.
