Physical Environment Assessment

Audits & Compliance Header

What is a Physical Environment Assessment?

A Physical Environment Assessment evaluates the conditions of the built work environment against established occupational health and safety standards. It covers parameters such as lighting levels, ventilation and air quality, thermal comfort, noise exposure, and housekeeping.

The assessment identifies conditions that fall below acceptable standards — whether they pose an immediate health risk or contribute to long-term occupational ill-health — and recommends practical improvements.

It is particularly relevant for office environments, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and any workplace where the quality of the physical environment directly affects employee health, comfort, and productivity.
