Baseline & Periodic Medical Surveillance Program

What is a Baseline & Periodic Medical Surveillance Program?
Medical surveillance is the systematic monitoring of workers' health over time — with the objective of detecting early signs of occupational disease or work-related health deterioration before clinical symptoms become apparent.
A baseline medical examination is conducted at the point of employment or initial exposure — establishing the worker's pre-exposure health status. Periodic medical surveillance examinations are conducted at defined intervals thereafter — monitoring for changes in health parameters that may indicate the early onset of occupational illness related to workplace exposures.
EGSS designs and manages medical surveillance programmes tailored to the specific hazard profile of the workplace — coordinating with occupational health physicians, defining examination protocols, managing surveillance records, and ensuring that findings are reviewed and acted upon in a timely and confidential manner.
