Food Safety Audit

What is a Food Safety Audit?
A Food Safety Audit is an independent evaluation of a food business's compliance with applicable food safety regulations, standards, and good hygiene practices — covering the full range of activities from raw material handling and storage through processing, packaging, and distribution.
In India, food safety is governed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India — FSSAI — and its associated regulations. A food safety audit evaluates compliance with FSSAI licensing and registration requirements, hygiene and sanitation standards, temperature control requirements, pest control arrangements, labelling obligations, and food handler hygiene practices.
The audit provides food businesses, institutional kitchens, cafeterias, and hospitality operations with an objective assessment of their food safety performance — identifying gaps and providing a corrective action plan to address them before they result in a regulatory finding or a food safety incident.
